About Kopaonik Business Forum
The Kopaonik Business Forum, organized by the Serbian Association of Economists, is held in the first week of March at the Kopaonik Convention Center. Over the last years, the patron of the concept of the Forum has been the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia.
The Forum presents an opportunity offered once a year to discuss the most pressing economic and social issues in Serbia and gathers over 1,200 participants, including eminent professors, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, businessmen, domestic and foreign investors, and representatives of international financial organizations. Owing to its tradition and excellent reputation, the Kopaonik Business Forum has become the most important event of its kind in Serbia and the region. In terms of its relevance and impact, the Kopaonik Business Forum has been recognized as “Serbian Davos” and has certainly contributed to creating a positive image of Serbia in the world. It attracts plenty of media attention every year.
At the end of the Forum, the organizer presents a document titled “Kopaonik Consensus”, which summarizes the most important conclusions of the three-day work. This document, intended primarily for the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the National Bank of Serbia, presents organizer’s contribution to designing plausible and efficient policies with the aim of continuing the economic transition of Serbia in a swifter and high-quality manner.
Strengthening the regional dimension in recent years, the Forum attracts an increasing number of participants from neighboring countries and the Western Balkans. Regional cooperation stands as an indispensable prerequisite for the future of the region as a whole, as well as for each individual country, foremostly when it comes to their European perspective. Closer cooperation, partnership and contacts with more advanced, experienced EU members would provide these countries with opportunities for direct learning, adopting the best practices and translating them into the Western Balkan context which would ultimately enhance the resolution of current issues and challenges in the region.
